What you need to know:

  • NASDAQ OMX Global Indexes completed the name change of select BulletShares Indexes to NASDAQ BulletShares. The revised NASDAQ BulletShares indexes are disseminated on NYSE's proprietary index product.
  • NASDAQ OMX requests that market data vendors and redistributors update their database to reflect the new names for the indexes immediately.

What are the NASDAQ BulletShares Indexes?

NASDAQ BulletShares® Indexes represent the performance of an investment in a diversified, held-to-maturity portfolio of fixed income securities with a common year of maturity. Accretive Asset Management developed the BulletShares methodology in 2009 with the objective of combining the benefits of individual bonds with those of bond funds. Each BulletShares index represents a specific year of maturity and terminates after the bonds in its portfolio mature. Investors can use products based on BulletShares Indexes like they use individual bonds, whether building traditional bond ladders or constructing more sophisticated portfolios designed to meet future cash flow needs. These indexes are the foundation for bond funds that act like bonds.

What database changes do NASDAQ OMX vendors and market data redistributors need to make to accommodate the new indexes?

NASDAQ OMX® asks that all vendors and market data redistributors update their database to reflect the new name and source for the indexes immediately.
