Daily MP Position Report with Closing Quotes Data Fields & Definitions

This report enables NASDAQ market makers to confirm their end of trading day registered status, as well as their closing quotes, for each security they make markets in for any given date. It includes all end-of-day statuses for all MP Positions (Active, Suspended, Excused Withdrawn, Deleted, Functionally Excused, and Functionally Suspended) for every NASDAQ-Listed and Exchange-Listed Issues. Also included is the closing quote data for all of the issues that your MPID had a registered position.

The first six fields are summaries located at the top of the file. The next nine fields are the columns within the download file

 

The following fields are displayed at the top of the file, with one record for each field
MPID Market Participant ID - The market participant identifier.
Report Date The report date requested. Displayed in mm/dd/yyyy format.
Total Issues Number of securities included on the file.
Number of NASDAQ Global Select Issues Number of securities listed on the NASDAQ Global Select Market
Number of NASDAQ Global Market Issues Number of securities listed on the NASDAQ Global Market
Number of NASDAQ Capital Market Issues Number of securities listed on the NASDAQ Capital Market
Number of Exchange-Listed Issues Number of securities listed on other exchanges.

 

Column Heading Definition
Symbol The identifier representing the security in which a market participant has a position.
Security Name The company name for the security and type of issue.
Market Category The market category of the issue.
  • Q - NASDAQ Global Select MarketSM
  • G - NASDAQ Global MarketSM
  • S - NASDAQ Capital MarketSM
  • I - Other Exchange Listed Securities
Status The state of the market participant's registration position within the issue.

 

Allowed values:

  • A - Active: A quoting or order entering participant in the issue.
  • E - Excused Withdrawn: The market participant has requested to be removed temporarily from the issue for special circumstances, such as a religious holiday, compliance requirement, system failure, etc. Also, ECN's assume this state when they do not have size at the inside.
  • F - Functionally Excused: The status of a MP when registered in a CQS issue, and is temporarily not quoting the issue. (CQS Issues Only.)
  • S - Suspended: The market participant has been suspended from the issue. Suspensions are usually imposed by NASDAQ® Market Operations and occur across the board for all issues in which a market participant is registered.
  • Functionally Suspended - The status of a MP when registered in a CQS issue that is undergoing a Trading Halt. (CQS Issues Only.)
  • W - Withdrawn: Market participant no longer wish to make a market in the particular security, at least for a period of time and has self withdrawn from the quoting of the security.
MP Type The type of the MP Position

 

Allowed values:

  • C - Electronic Communications Network (ECN)
  • M - Registered Market Maker
  • NR - Non Registered MP, generally Order Entry only
Closing BidClosing Bid Price for the specific market participant at the regular trading session.
Closing Bid Last UpdateTimestamp of when the closing bid price was last updated by the market participant.
Closing AskClosing Ask Price for the specific market participant at the regular trading session.
Closing Ask Last UpdateTimestamp of closing ask price was last updated by the market participant.
