Short Interest Report
Overview
On a semimonthly basis, Nasdaq publishes a summary of the consolidated market short interest positions in all Nasdaq-listed securities in the Nasdaq Short Interest Report. This report is available to firms via secured FTP access.
Benefits & Features
The Nasdaq Short Interest Report is designed to:
- Facilitate the distribution of short sale data to the print and electronic news media
- Enable investors and traders to develop risk assessment tools and trading models for Nasdaq-listed issues
- Reflect stock splits and other corporate actions if they occur before the stated settlement date for the reporting period
Access Options
The Nasdaq Short Interest Report is available for download via secure FTP access only.
Query-only access on a security-by-security basis is available via the Nasdaq Monthly Short Interest page on the public section of this website. This is not for re-sale, only for individual internal use.

Agreements & Forms
In order to access the Nasdaq Web-Based Reports, including the Nasdaq Short Interest Report, firms must execute the appropriate Nasdaq agreements:
- Web-Based Products Order Form (required for all firms)
- Nasdaq Global Data Agreement (required if firm is not a current Nasdaq data distributor and plans to distribute the data internally or externally)
