Overview of Changes: | |||||||||||||||||||||
Effective October 9, 2006, NASDAQ® will no longer support the dissemination of the NASDAQ Official Opening Price (NOOP) and NASDAQ Official Closing Price (NOCP) messages on the NASDAQ Index Dissemination ServiceSM (NIDSSM) data feed. When NASDAQ introduced the Reference Price Messages in January of 2004, the NIDS data feed was the only source of dissemination for NASDAQ Official Opening Price (NOOP) data. NASDAQ added the NASDAQ Official Closing Price (NOCP) values to NIDS in March of 2004 when it implemented the NASDAQ Closing Cross. Since the introduction of the original reference price messages on NIDS, NASDAQ has worked with the UTP Operating Committee to facilitate the reporting of official opening and closing values via the UTP Trade Data FeedSM (UTDFSM). NASDAQ has been disseminating its NOOP and NOCP values via both NIDS and UTDF since September of 2004. Today, the vast majority of market data redistributors and market participant firms process NOOP and NOCP values via UTDF. Therefore, for efficiency reasons, NASDAQ will retire the following reference price messages on NIDS, effective October 9, 2006:
Please note that NIDS will continue to be the primary data source for NASDAQ index data, including the Index Opening Value. In addition, NIDS also serves as the source for daily and intraday valuation information for NASDAQ-listed exchange traded funds (ETFs).
