Re-Activation of the Boston Stock Exchange as a UTP Participant

Summary:

  • Beginning in June 2008, Boston Stock Exchange (BSE) intends to re-commence quotation and trading of ALL NASDAQ-listed securities under the Unlisted Trading Privileges (UTP) Plan, pending SEC approval of the acquisition of BSE by NASDAQ®.

Overview:

On September 5, 2007, the Boston Stock Exchange (BSE) announced that it discontinued the operations of the Boston Equities Exchange (BeX). Beginning in June 2008, BSE intends to re-commence quotation and trading of ALL NASDAQ-listed securities under the Unlisted Trading Privileges (UTP) Plan based on the assumption that the SEC will approve the acquisition of the BSE by NASDAQ®.

Impact to Vendor Feeds:

BSE quotation and trade data will be disseminated via the following UTP data feeds:

  • UTP Quotation Data FeedSM (UQDFSM): Beginning June 2008, UQDF subscribers will receive BSE quotes via the UTP Participant Quotation message format for ALL NASDAQ-listed securities. BSE quotes will be identified by the market center originator identifier value of "B" in the UQDF message header. In addition, firms will also see the "B" market center value in the National Best Bid and Offer (NBBO) Appendage and Closing Quote Recap message formats.
  • UTP Trade Data FeedSM (UTDFSM): BSE trade transactions will be disseminated with the “B” market center originator identifier via UTDF.
