NASDAQ Delays Plans to Discontinue NASDAQ Reference Price Messages on NIDS

Summary:
  • As announced in NASDAQ Vendor Alert #2006-047, NASDAQ plans to discontinue the NASDAQ Reference Price Messages on the NASDAQ Index Dissemination Service (NIDS) data feed.
  • In order to give firms more time to prepare, NASDAQ will delay retirement of the messages until November 6, 2006. Firms that process the NIDS NASDAQ Reference Price Messages should make plans to process the data from UTDF on that date.

Overview:

As announced in NASDAQ Vendor Alert #2006-047, NASDAQ® plans to discontinue the dissemination of NASDAQ Official Opening Price (NOOP) and NASDAQ Official Closing Price (NOCP) messages on the NASDAQ Index Dissemination ServiceSM (NIDSSM) data feed. In order to give firms more time to prepare, NASDAQ will delay retirement of the messages until November 6, 2006.

NASDAQ will retire the following reference price messages on NIDS, effective November 6, 2006:

Please note that NIDS will continue to be the primary data source for NASDAQ index data, including the Index Opening Value. In addition, NIDS also serves as the source for daily and intraday valuation information for NASDAQ-listed exchange traded funds (ETFs).
