At a special meeting held on November 20, 2019, shareholders of Ecology and Environment, Inc (EEI) approved the proposed merger with WSP Global Inc. The merger became effective before the open of business on December 31, 2019. In anticipation of the closing, the stock was halted immediately following the after-hours session at 8 p.m. on December 30, 2019. The stock will remain halted on the day of closing (December 31st) and will be suspended effective January 2, 2020. The company has declared a special dividend in the amount of $0.50 which is contingent on the closing of the merger and has revised the record and payment dates. The dividend is to be paid on January 6, 2020 to shareholders of record on December 30, 2019. Trades through the close of business December 30th are entitled to the dividend.
