What you need to know:
- NASDAQ OMX will introduce a new Mutual Fund Quotation Service (MFQS) website to capture instrument registration and financial information documentation for mutual funds, money market funds, Unit Investment Trusts (UITs), annuities and structured products on Monday, December 6, 2010.
- The MFQS security master information and financial documentation will be provided to the market data community via a new MFQS Registration Service.
What is the new MFQS Registration Service?
Offered by NASDAQ OMX Information LLC, the MFQS Registration Service is a web-based data product designed to provide issue-level security details for MFQS-included instruments. This NASDAQ OMX product includes three components:
- MFQS Directory: This component file provides security level information for all active instruments in the MFQS system at the beginning of the current business day.
- MFQS Daily List: This component provides advance notification of MFQS security registration actions such as new instruments, deleted instruments and other instrument updates. For the Daily List component, NASDAQ OMX will generate two daily files:
- MFQS Daily List – Advance Notifications: This file will include all MFQS registration actions that were approved by MFQS Operations on the current business date regardless of the MFQS effective date.
- MFQS Daily List – Next Business Day Changes: This file provides only those MFQS registration actions scheduled to take effect on the next business date.
- MFQS Documentation Posting Service: NASDAQ OMX allows MFQS issuers to post prospectus, statements of additional information (SAIs), semi-annual and annual reports and money market monthly financial statements in PDF format for market data vendors to access. Each day, NASDAQ OMX will generate a file (available for download) listing any new MFQS documents.
How will the MFQS Registration Service be delivered?
The MFQS Registration Service data files will be accessible to subscribers via Secured Web Service.
The MFQS Directory and MFQS Daily List files will be delivered in pipe-delimited text or XML file format. Upon initial system launch, NASDAQ OMX will limit the documentation postings to PDFs.
Please refer to the MFQS Registration Service File Format Specification document for details.
When will NASDAQ OMX introduce the MFQS Registration Service?
The MFQS Registration Service is scheduled to go live in production on Monday, December 6, 2010.
What are the hours of operation for the MFQS Registration Service?
Firms may access the MFQS Registration Service for data entry from 12:00 a.m., Eastern Time (ET) on Mondays through 11:00 p.m., ET on Fridays.
NASDAQ OMX Mutual Fund Operations will review and respond to applications submitted via the MFQS Registration Service during its normal business hours (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., ET).
How can I access the MFQS Registration Service?
Upon implementation, NASDAQ OMX will offer MFQS Registration Service access to those market data distributors currently subscribing to the NASDAQ Daily List product at no charge. Users with the Daily List – CUSIP entitlement should be able to log-in to the new MFQS Registration Service beginning Monday, December 6, 2010.
Please note that the MFQS Registration Service includes CUSIP numbers. As a result, firms must have an agreement in place with the S&P CUSIP Bureau in order to access the service.
What is the impact of the new service on the existing MFQS Daily List delivered via NASDAQ OMX Trader?
NASDAQ OMX intends to phase out the legacy MFQS Daily List in 2011. To ensure a smooth customer transition, NASDAQ OMX will continue to support the legacy MFQS Daily List product on the NASDAQ OMX Trader website at least through the MFQS 0050 release.
While NASDAQ OMX will not be adding any new data fields to the legacy MFQS Daily List product, it will begin to support ISO Market Identifier Codes (MICs) for the Listing Exchange field as of December 6, 2010.
