NASDAQ OMX Updates MFQS Registration Service / MFQS Daily List Specifications

What you need to know:
- NASDAQ OMX® introduced a new Mutual Fund Quotation ServiceSM (MFQSSM) website interface on June 13, 2011.
- Through the website, market data vendors with a valid MFQS Registration Service certificate and user ID can query and download the following reports:
- MFQS Symbol Directory
- MFQS Daily Lists – Advanced Notification and Next Day Versions
- MFQS Ex-Date Dividends and Distribution Report
- Please note that NASDAQ OMX has updated the MFQS Registration Service / MFQS Daily List web service specification document to reflect the MFQS website configuration changes.
What is the MFQS Registration Service?
The MFQS Registration Service is a new web-based interface that includes the following data files:
- MFQS Symbol Directory
- MFQS Daily List – Advance Notifications
- MFQS Daily List – Next Business Day Changes
- MFQS Ex-Date Report for Dividends and Capital Distribution
Please refer to the MFQS Registration Service specification document for a detailed description of these downloadable files.
In addition, MFQS Registration Service users receive view-only access to the MFQS intra-day update statistics page as well as monthly update trend reports that can help market data vendors determine when to pull end-of-day files for mutual funds, money market funds and Unit Investment Trusts (UITs).
How can I download the new MFQS Symbol Directory, MFQS Daily List and MFQS Ex-Date Reports?
NASDAQ OMX offers two ways for registered users to access the MFQS Registration Service reports. >
- Firms may manually download the reports from the new MFQS website.
- Using the MFQS Registration Service specification, firms may create a program to automatically retrieve the reports from the new MFQS web service.
Please note that firms must have a valid MFQS security certificate, user ID and password to use either the MFQS website or web service.
What did NASDAQ OMX update in the MFQS Registration Service / MFQS Daily List specification?
In the latest version of the MFQS Registration Service / MFQS Daily List specification, NASDAQ OMX made the following changes:
- Updated code sample to include a security certificate statement
- Updated the addresses to reflect the MFQS URL change implemented on June 13, 2011
- Added the Ex-Date Report description and field layout
- Corrected the MFQS event code value for change requests

What other MFQS statistics are available from the new MFQS website for the market data community?
Effective Monday, June 13, 2011, NASDAQ OMX allows MFQS Registration Service users to view intraday reporting statistics via the MFQS website. Via the Reporting Statistics page, firms can see how many MFQS instruments have been updated at any point during the MFQS reporting session.
In addition, NASDAQ OMX provides monthly trend reports such as Updates by Instrument Type and Updates by Time Interval that can help market data vendors determine the best time to pull end-of-day files. For details on the new website layout, please refer to the MFQS Website User Guide.
How can I access the MFQS website as a market data vendor?
NASDAQ OMX requires that MFQS website and web service users to have a valid security certificate, user ID and password.
To obtain access, a firm should complete and submit the following documentation to NASDAQ OMX Global Data Products – Operations for processing:
- NASDAQ OMX Global Data Agreement - Required for new NASDAQ OMX proprietary data customers only
- NASDAQ OMX Data Product Request Form – Used to add the MFQS Registration Service / MFQS Daily List to a firm’s entitlement configuration
- NASDAQ OMX Web-Based Logon Request Form – Required to add a MFQS user account to an approved MFQS Registration Service / MFQS Daily List firm configuration
Please note that firms must have a CUSIP license with Standard and Poor’s to get access to the MFQS Registration Service / MFQS Daily List product.
Once the necessary forms have been processed, NASDAQ OMX will contact the user with instructions on how to download the required security certificate for the MFQS website.
What is the cost for the MFQS Registration Service / MFQS Daily List access for a market data vendor?
NASDAQ OMX charges a monthly fee of $500 per firm to access the MFQS Registration Service / MFQS Daily List. Please note that NASDAQ OMX is waiving the monthly fee for existing NASDAQ Daily List customers through July 31, 2011.
Will NASDAQ OMX continue to support the MFQS Daily List files on the NASDAQ OMX Trader website?
NASDAQ OMX is offering a parallel period through July 31, 2011 for customers to make the transition to the MFQS Registration Service / MFQS Daily List. At the end of the parallel period, NASDAQ OMX will discontinue the MFQS Daily List posting on the NASDAQ OMX Trader® website.
