• Migration of GIDS Disaster Recovery (DR) functionality to Chicago (from Ashburn)

• Duplication of the DR GIDS data streams

UPDATE (6/3/2020): Now that the new GIDS data streams are live, Nasdaq is asking all GIDS direct data feed subscribers of the U.S. addresses to migrate to the new IP multicast addresses on or before Monday, July 13, 2020.

What is GIDS?

Global Index Data Service (GIDS) is Nasdaq’s real-time data feed that consolidates all ~45,000 Nasdaq indexes, as well as exchange-traded products (ETPs) valuation data and third-party index data. The widespread distribution to over 600 global firms promotes capital performance transparency and education for investors, asset managers and the financial community worldwide. The GIDS feed is delivered via multicast technology.

What is the impact to GIDS customers?

UPDATE (6/3/2020): GIDS direct data feed subscribers to the United States addresses will need to migrate to new IP multicast address configurations on or before Monday, July 13, 2020. See the table below for the new GIDS multicast addresses and rendezvous point (RP) information.

What benefits will the GIDS Technology Refresh bring to customers?

Benefits from the GIDS Technology Refresh include having access to two copies of the disaster recovery (DR) feed, and customers will have the ability to receive only the data they need. The GIDS Technology Refresh will now support the delivery of the data feed via multicast Sparse-Mode. This will allow customers to receive the data dynamically.

What is the timeline for the change?

UPDATE (6/3/2020)Nasdaq is now publishing GIDS in the new multicast addresses. For ease of transition, Nasdaq will support both the legacy and new multicast addresses simultaneously for the next 90 days. During this parallel period, firms must update their network configuration to read the new IP multicast addresses listed above. Nasdaq will cease to publish the GIDS feed via the legacy multicast addresses at the close of day on Friday, July 10, 2020.

Will there be any changes to the GIDS data formats?

No. The GIDS data formats will remain the same. Only the multicast address information is changing.

Will firms need to request connectivity access to the new IP Address information?

Update: 5/7/2020

Yes. In order to access the new multicast IP addresses, firms will need to submit a request to Customer Network Operations.
