What you need to know:

On Monday, August 12, 2019, due to an upstream SIAC issue, Nasdaq delayed the dissemination of its closing spin.

Nasdaq requests that market recipients and market data vendors review the Closing Value file below to ensure their systems reflect the appropriate closing values.

Nasdaq’s trading systems and the UTP SIP were not affected.

What happened?

On Monday, August 12, 2019, Nasdaq received an undigestable file format from SIAC containing incorrect official closing prices. Nasdaq invoked its established contingency process, and used the consolidated closing prices for NYSE Tape A and Tape B securities.

Clients will be notified if any restatements are necessary.

Nasdaq used official primary-market closing prices for all Nasdaq-listed (Tape C) securities. Nasdaq’s trading systems and UTP SIP were unaffected by the issues, and all Nasdaq systems continued operating normally.

What products were impacted?

The GIDS closing summary message that was scheduled to disseminate at 5:15 pm ET was delayed until 9:29pm ET. For those customers unable to ingest closing spin, please find a closing price file here.

Nasdaq Global Index FlexFile Delivery Service (GIFFD) were inadvertently updated with the incorrect date. Nasdaq Global Index FlexFile Delivery Service (GIFFD) for 2019-08-12 EOD was reposted at 11:15 am and is available for download. For files uploaded to GIFFD this evening, customers will need to download the _02 file to ensure they have the most updated information.

Global Index Watch (GIW) data is updated and available for use.

Were all Nasdaq Indexes impacted?

No, Nasdaq Indexes that rely on UTP SIP data (Nasdaq-listed securities) were unaffected by this issue. Flagship indexes including the Nasdaq Composite (IXIC) and the Nasdaq-100 Index (NDX), were also not affected.
