What you need to know:

In an effort to continue enhancing the security of our platform, Nasdaq is implementing certain security measures for Nasdaq Global Index FlexFile Delivery (GIFFD)..

Starting on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024, Nasdaq is requiring the whitelisting of IP addresses used to access our GIFFD service as documented in the How to Access GIFFD Guide. This means clients will need to provide Nasdaq with the specific IP addresses that they intend to use to access GIFFD files.

After this date, clients will no longer be able to access GIFFD files unless their IP addresses are whitelisted.

Alternatively, clients may also access Nasdaq Index Data through Nasdaq’s Global Index Watch (GIW) website or GIW Web Services API services .

What action is required from you?

  • If you are a Nasdaq GIFFD client, then email a full list of your company IP addresses wishing to access GIFFD to indexservices@nasdaq.com. Please include your network peering IP and source range. If you are using a network address translation (NAT), please provide the NAT. Similarly, if your company is using VPNs, you need to provide the VPN IP address, which is usually a static address across the company but may vary by office. Typically, your Network Engineering team should be able to provide this information.

  • Test your access before Tuesday, August 27th, 2024. Nasdaq has set up a test page here: sftp://beta.ftp.indexes.nasdaqomx.com available starting on Monday July 29. If you can successfully open this page, that confirms your IP address whitelisted, and you can expect to access GIFFD after the effective date.

How can you find the range of IP addresses wishing to access GIFFD?

How much time does it typically take to gather and whitelist the IP addresses?

Most Network Engineering teams should be able to provide IP addresses in 15 minutes. Once the information is shared with Nasdaq, you can expect a 24-48 hour turnaround to add the IP addresses, which will be completed outside of U.S. market hours and weekends. Additional IP addresses can be added upon request.

What is not changing?

The GIFFD host/URL and port number below are staying the same.

  • Host: sftp://ftp.indexes.nasdaqomx.com

  • Port: 22

This security enhancement does not impact the Global Index Watch (GIW) website or the Web Services API.

Why is Nasdaq implementing this security enhancement?

At Nasdaq, we pride ourselves on continuously maturing the security of our services. As an enhancement to the security of our platform and our client experience, we are restricting access to trusted sources to further protect the GIFFD application and reinforce our commitment to uphold our company-wide security standards. This is in lieu of requiring customers to update their password every 90 days.

Where can you find additional information or request help with this change?
